Fragile Self Portrait

I'll start off by saying this was a pain in the ass to make. It's about a half-scale self portrait in acrylic paint, layered on six sheets of 1/8 inch glass. Then I made these block supports with grooves cut into them on a band saw that hold the whole thing together like giant combs. I wanted the view from the front to be quasi-3D because of the distance between the layers of glass. If you think of it in Photoshop terms, the panes of glass are six different color layers. I'm standing in sort of an army pose, but stripped down to my boxers. The color layers combine in a sort of woodland camoflage. The color scheme reiterates the Army-ness of it. I wanted to appear fragile, unsturdy, naked.
